13.6.2011 The winners for the Genre Game are announced!   The judged awards can be found here  and the Viewers Choices from the polls are here .  We hope everyone had fun.  The Art of Vidding Awards is now on hiatus but may re-open later in Autumn/Winter for a 'normal' round.  Please do not submit any entries until we announce the opening date.

10.6.2011 Polls are now closed. Thank you for voting. We had some very interesting results. We are now currently making awards and finalizing judging & hope to post these on Sunday or Monday next.

7.6.2011 Polls close this Friday 10th June Midday GMT - If you haven't voted already please do! (just the once to be fair). We are in the final stages of judging and Andrea has started making the award templates. The plan is to announce the poll results / post all the awards at the weekend. We will then go on hiatus so no new submissions please.

4.5.2011 I've now posted the  Viewers Choice Polls     There are banners/codes available on that page so you can promote your vids on your own website/blog/journals - ask for people to watch & vote. Polls will close 10th June 2011 midday GMT so there's time to view each group. The judging process has also begun. With fifty vids to consider, I doubt we will be getting awards posted before June  but I will keep you all informed. Please can Lucy Carriker contact us asap on the tag board or by email as we need a download link for your entry.

22.4.2011 Thanks to everyone for those last minute submissions. We have enough vids now in each genre to hold viewers polls and we will also be able to give judged awards  to all but two genres. We will however consider all entries when selecting our judge's choices, Best Editing and Best Video awards.  Once we start the judging process we will have a better idea of when you can expect the awards. Information on the viewer choice polls and promo banners will be posted soon.

19.4.2011 - We've now received enough entries to hold polls in all but one category. Any action/adventure vids out there??  We can also now judge all genres except Doublet & Hose, Dungeon and Dragons and Action & Adventure. We'd like to be able to judge them all so if you know vidders who may have vids that fit these groups send them our way. Again, the round closes tomorrow night.

13.4.2011 I've added two more entries. We really need more in Doublet & Hose, Shock Horror, Dungeons & Dragons, Action & Adventure and Here and Now - this last group now includes any medical dramas as we only had one entry for this group. Round will close on 20th April.

3.4.2011 We are now up to 33 entries, thank you everyone. We have enough in three genre groups but need more in  Doublet & Hose, Shock Horror, Action & Adventure and Here and Now.  We don't appear to have any medical drama vids so it's likely we won't feature this genre separately but could add any we get to the 'here and now' group. I'd like to at least get to three entries in all the others so we can run polls on them. So if you know any vidders who may want to take part please let them know.  I'll be posting the closing date to the round very soon.

30.3.2011 More entries updated. We now have enough in the Fangs & Demons group to be judged ( you can still submit in this group), but we still need more in the others!

25.3.2011 Entries updated again. We have twenty so far but not enough in any genre for judging just yet, but we're close on a couple. Remember no crossovers please unless all the source is from the same genre, thanks    

23.3.2011  The first submissions are now posted. Just to clarify - crossovers between two or more genre's aren't really going to work so we'd rather that if you are submitting a multifandom vid that it falls into one genre group. Please spread the word, we need more entries.

21.3.2011 - And we're back! Not with a normal round but something that we're calling 'The Genre Game'.  We have chosen nine TV/Movies genres and ask vidders to submit their appropriate vids, to be judged against entries of the same group. For this round you will be able to submit two vids but they must be in different genre groups.   There will be a Best Video and runner up for each group and any other awards that we decide to give. Each group must have at least five entries to be judged.  We will still have a Judge's Choice awards and there may even be a poll for viewers to pick their favourites from each group. 17.12.10 I always feel that there should be a little fanfare when the awards are posted - you've all put so much work, effort and love into the vids you enter and they are truly deserving of recognition and some musical tribute at least.  So it is with pleasure that we announce the winners of the final round of 2010.  What a very enjoyable (but hard to judge round) so many excellent vids all different in their own way. We could have easily picked at least four judge's choices each but restrained ourselves to two.  There are ties - some categories were unbelievably competitive and as a result there are a few Special Award of Merits for the vids that deserved recognition but were squeezed out this round.  There are two pages of awards so make sure you check both and please save your awards to your own server.   Thank you to everyone for submitting , we'll hopefully see you all again in 2011 once we have decided what the next round will involve. Please hold submissions until we open the new round and have a lovely Holiday time whatever you celebrate. 

6.12.2010 We've reached our 4th year running this award site and would like to thank our top contributing Vidders - Anyone who has submitted ten or more vids since we opened has an award. You can find them here. Shona and I would not only like to thank them, but all of you who take part in the competition here.   We're at stage 2 of the judging phase right now for Round 16, we were too busy at the convention to get time to do anything other than queue and party. Still hoping to get the awards up by Mid December though. 

21.11.10 The first phase of judging is well under way. I must add that the standard this round is very high so it's taking time.  We ended up with 35 entries as I didn't hear from SpikeJem. You can always resubmit SpikeJem. Next weekend the judges, Sho and I will actually get together and if possible conclude the judging then - we're at a Convention so if there's time I should think we will be discussing the vids. All things permitting I hope that awards will be up by Mid December.  1st December marks our 4th Year Anniversary, a couple of years ago we had some special awards to celebrate, we may do something again so check back around that time.

28.10.10  And the round is now closed - we have 36 entries pending a reply from SpikeJem.  We will start downloading and judging very soon.

18.10.10 Four more submissions updated. Just five to go before we can close the round.

13.10.10  Two more submissions, thanks to Siwann and Mariana.  Just room for another nine and less than 3 weeks to get them in.

11.10.10 More submissions added, not sure I have got them all - there's a tag on the board that may or may not match an entry! If you aren't listed please let me know.

7.10.2010- The first fourteen submissions are now up. If you sent one in and it is not listed, please leave a tag.  Just 21 to go before we can close the round.

6.10.2010 Round Sixteen is now open!  A few minor changes - the round entries will be capped at 35 or will close on 30.10.10 - whichever happens soonest. Just so all of you are aware, any vid entered previously in the Fandom Face Off Tournament but not any normal round prior to that,  is also eligible for submission. Just one vid per vidder though,  so if you have a few lined up just submit them one round at a time. The theme is White Collar - perhaps there should be an award for submissions that match this round's  theme? I shall be making some codes for new shows - I will take  requests, so leave a tag.

20.9.2010 Final awards are now posted. We have the Judge's choices from all the entries.  We were going to also have the top picks from the Fandom Finalists but figured that all were worthy and left it with just our personal selections from the 123 entries.  It's been great fun and I'm sure you all agree, a very competitive tournament with entries of the highest standard. I hope everyone has enjoyed this and we'll definitely consider holding a tournament again next year - we're open to ideas and love to hear your thoughts on the tag board. 

The next normal round will open later in October, please hold submission until I announce the round as open. Any vid entered into the tournament that had not previously been submitted in a normal round will be accepted, but just one entry per vidder as usual.  We shall also cap the number of entries to 35 this next round, so the quicker we get the submission the sooner we can judge and post results/awards.  I shall be back soon with updated rules, layout and date for the next round.

9.9.2010 We're nearing the final stage of the 'Fandom Face Off'  Vidding Tournament and have two sets of awards banners now available.  If you were a Fandom Finalist or a Runner Up in a fandom of more than 3 entries, then please collect your awards from here.     Also the results and awards for the VIEWERS CHOICE POLLS are now posted. A wapping 657 votes were cast in total -  most fandoms were very tight with a real fight in the Battlestar Galactica category where we had 3 tied winners and 2 tied runner ups!  Thanks to all of you who promoted the polls, fans turned out to pick their favourites.

This just leaves us the Judge's choices (and the top picks of the Fandom Finalists) which we hope to post  very soon.

2.9.2010 We're currently working on awards - they are taking time as the Finalist banners are all animated. In the meantime here's two new affiliates to check out:

13.8.2010 - We have our last Fandom Finalist - You can see who won the final battle here .  Also the viewers Choice Polls are now closed.  We will be back in a couple of weeks with Viewer Choice results, The Fandom Finalist and Runner Up award banners, the top vids from those finalists and the judge's personal  choices from all 123 entries.

9.8.2010 Round Three winners are now posted.  We have all our finalists except the one fandom group. I hope to have that result in a few days. And don't forget Viewers Choice polls close on the 12th - so get those votes in. Once all the finalists are chosen, the judges will select the top vids from those along with their own Judge's Choices.

 4.8.2010 The Round Three Battles are now drawn - after this we will have all fandom finalist results except Buffy/Angel Group.

30.7.2010  The results of the Round 2 battles are now up!  We had a tough time choosing between some truly amazing vids. Eleven more finalists have now been decided and we have seven fandoms still to whittle down. Click on your names to collect your Round banners.  I'll post Round 3 battles soon.

28.7.2010  We've nearly finished the judging on the Round 2 battles. There are couple of matches (featuring the same vidders unsurprisingly)  that are extremely tough choices so we are taking our time with those.  Please note that the Polls will close on August 12th so get those final votes in!

21.7.2010 Whilst you are all waiting eagerly for the results of Rd2 battles why not check out these two challenges at ADF Awards and Vision in Video Awards !

12.7.2010 The draw for the Round Two Battles has now been made and the details are here . We will try to get back with the results as soon as possible.  Once we have the final vid for each Fandom they will be added to the list here .  Once all fandoms are decided, there will be award banners and the judges will choose from these finalists. 

8.7.2010 Round One results are now in. Wow, you didn't make it easy for us (nor did  the   'Hat of Destiny ^tm'  either)  There were some really difficult matches straight off the mark and even though we  took different  fandom groups,  we had to consult on a number of very tough decisions.   There are awards for those who made it through this round.  All remaining entries will go back into the hat (when there are more than 3 remaining) to be re-drawn for Round two which we will judge together. We will repeat this process until we have one vid (or two in the event of  a tie) for each fandom and there will be shiny animated awards.  Remember to promote the polls as there will be Viewer Choice Awards at the end.

5.7.2010  Quick note - I left off Valika's entry on the SGA Poll so I have now corrected that and reset the results (for just that poll). Please place your votes again on the SG1/SGA poll. Sorry for the error.

4.7.2010 The Viewer Choice Polls for the Fandom Face Off Tournament are now open. This gives fans and vid watchers an opportunity to chose their favourite vids  from all the entries in the tournament. Polls  will remain open throughout. the tournament up to the very last round . I'd expect  that to be the end of August. So take a code, post it on your website, vid page, Blog or journal and get everyone voting.   Look for results and award banners for the first round battles in a couple of days.

 29.6.2010 The 'Hat of Destiny ^tm'   has  drawn the first round of battles.  In the smaller fandoms there will only be two rounds. We've decided to share the fandoms between us, so this should make the process a little speedier.   Winners will be posted as soon as possible along with Round Banners and participation awards, these winners will go back into the hat to be drawn again. . Where there were an odd number of entries we have three-way battles, with the exception of the Harry Potter fandom, only one vid will go forward to the next round.  In the event of a close decision, judges will consult and a tie may be declared with both vids being put forward to the next round.  Any questions please tag or contact us.  There will be an update on our progress in a few days.

 27.6.2010 The Tournament is now closed for submissions. A list of the vidders and the fandoms in which they have submitted is here. If there are any missing,  please let me know as soon as possible as we will begin making the draw for the Fandom Face offs. 

25.6.2010 - You guys are awesome!!  I have updated the numbers from the submissions so far. We have 35 Vidders and 112 Vids!!   We need one entry at least for the following fandoms - BtVS/AtS,  Leverage,  TSSC, Heroes,  House, Farscape, X Files, Twilight. Spread the word, we need these few to make the numbers even. The round closes late Saturday night. If you are planning to submit and need a day or so more please tag.

19.6.2010  New layout and number of entries updated, links for the vids and the matches will not be posted until the round is closed. So far we have 24 vidders and 78 vids, fandom breakdown here.  Not feeling any love for Farscape, Leverage or Glee right now so if you know anyone who has vids in these fandoms ask them to consider submitting.

15.6.2010 Great start but we need more - Fifteen Vidders and 53 vids already poised for the Face Off. To see the breakdown by fandom go here  Keep them coming, new layout soon.

8.6.2010  Polls will close Saturday 12th Midnight GMT. Then I will post the final fandoms and rules etc for the Tournament on the Sunday. If we get as many entries as responses it's going to be epic!!

7.6.2010 Well I'm back and there's a whole bucket load of responses to the poll I posted below. Presently we have enough interest to include all but three fandoms listed (no vids for Bones, Glee or Leverage yet) and also these fandoms : Heroes, Lost, Smallville, Farscape & Firefly. If you haven't yet filled in the poll please remember to click all the relevant fandoms and ' other ' and let us know in what else you would be able to submit vids. Before I close the polls I will list all those fandoms where little interest was noted so it will give everyone a chance to spread the word and so take part. Click the banner to go to the poll.

27.5.2010 Not quite the longest round in all history but pretty close, it wasn't my lovely co-judge that held things up, but my real life goings on that slowed judging more than we intended.  Thanks for all being patient, but you'll be glad to hear that the waiting is over. Winners are here and here.     And onto the speeches - this is something that I'd like you all to consider when viewing the awards:

We truly appreciate the love, effort, creativity and hard work that goes into the 'vidding' process. We understand what it takes to put forward your vids to be judged, this competition is only great because of the vidders who take part.  There are no poor vids submitted at the Art of Vidding Awards,  all are great to watch but not everyone will have an award. Please do not be discouraged if  you did not place this round.  The competition here is always of a high quality but when we have this number of vids from so many talented vidders,  the bar is raised and it's even tougher.

24.5.2010 More updates (yeah I know it's a long time coming)  We've just got the top awards to finalize and I've started on the award templates already. Still on course for getting these posted before the end of the month. Also I'll be running some challenge ideas past co-judge Shona for the summer, so there'll be news on that too.

 15.5.2010 We're in the second phase of judging, the quality of the entries is making this round so difficult. Sorry it has taken so long but Andrea was held up due to a fan  Convention this month. Thanks for all your patience. The awards will be up before the end of the month.

9.4.2010 We've started watching the vids - It will take us a while so please bear with us. I've had a couple of requests for codes so I have made some new ones. If anyone else wants a particular show just tag. I leave the codes here and on the code page here

1.4.2010 And the round closes with a total of 49 submissions.  Thank you to everyone.  We will now start downloading the last of the entries and judging will begin.  It is going to take some time, as soon as I have some idea of when awards will be posted I will update.

17.2.2010 - The first batch of submissions are now posted.  Thank you everyone,  good to see new vidders as well as our regulars.  The form is sporadically going into the spam filter (for reasons that escape me) so please continue to tag after submitting.  Just so you know, this round will close 31st March 2010.  Keep submitting folks!

15.2.2010 Round 15 is now open for submissions. We're still using the Freedback form so if everyone could tag when they submit then we can keep a check on any that may go astray. Remember  to read the rules. It's possible that a couple of viewer choice polls will be added to each round,  now that there are only two a year. I will update soon.

4.2.2010  New affiliate - why not check them out while you are waiting for the next round to open here ?   The layout will be updated shortly and details of the new  round will be posted.

7.1.10 A little later than I'd hoped (the awards got snowed in...) The Special Theme Round awards are now posted. Congratulations to everyone, we had fun watching these!.  Also please check out our new affiliate - Bound To Happen Awards.   And finally this years contest is open at The Fourth Wall, if you are looking to submit your best vid of 2009. 

Our next Normal round won't open until Mid February, so please don't submit until you see the announcement. ( Aurora I have your entry so I will hang on to that for this forthcoming round).

20.12.09 The special Theme Round is now closed, thank you to everyone who sent in an entry. If you don't see your submission please let me know. I will try to get judges awards up before New Year - A poll for Viewers choice will be posted shortly.

30.11.09 The entries I have received so far are now updated. I hope we get more, so I shall be promoting the competition around the place. If you know any vidders who may be interested please point them this-away!

12.11.09 Although the form works for me, I'm not entirely convinced so I have temporarily set up a 'freedback' form to use.  Any problems please tag.  We've 3 submissions so far which I will update shortly - love to have more :)

9.11.09 Theme layout is up. I would appreciate a tag once you have submitted - I'm checking that the form is working,  - Please spread the news about the competition - You can use the codes below. If we get enough entries I'll make 'vote for' banners for the polls. 

8.11.09 - Special Theme round is Open!!   'Tis the Season'    Send in those Seasonal vids, full details here.  .  I shall be back to put up the new layout and also we have a new affiliate - Check out Destiny's site

23.10.09 I shall have more information on the special round for you all shortly, so please check back later.   To enable better understanding of how we arrive at our decisions check out the FAQ on judging criteria. They are pretty straightforward, if anyone feels they need further clarification on these,  I'll happily answer questions but use the contact email and not the tag board.  And would just like to state the following : The editing program used is irrelevant to us at AvA,  that's why we don't mention it in the rules/entry form  and after this comment won't again. It is the vid we are judging, in our time spent watching vids over the last 6 or 7 years, we've seen masterpieces created by the most basic of programs and disasters from the very sophisticated.   It is a tough competition here and you should carefully consider this when making your submission.   After the next Special Round the Art of Vidding Awards will move to just two normal rounds a year, in Spring and Autumn. More information on that nearer the time.

20.10.09 Finally the winners for Round 14 are announced. Once again the vids in this round were of a very high standard, narrowing these down to just the top two (and sometimes three) for each category  was difficult.  Increasingly we find submissions that may  have previously won a category, miss out even on the Special Awards of Merit. We hope you all feel that this quality of submissions makes the awards even more worth while, just  take  into consideration the intense competition and mind blowing  talent on show here in each round.   We (the judges) enjoy watching each and every entry we receive at the Art of Vidding Awards and hope you will continue to participate in future rounds.   And neatly segued into news about the next round... its a Special theme round  'Holiday Season'  (because it will include more than just Christmas or Yuletide/Hanukkah etc ).  I will be giving more details in the next day or two and just like the decorations going up early in the shops,  the layout at Art of Vidding Awards will be updated around Mid November ready for entries.

10.10.09 Finalizing the judging. I will be starting on the awards this weekend,  when I get close to posting them I'll let you all know. Please don't submit yet,  there's plans for a Special Round that I will tell you about when the awards are posted.

30.9.09 Just finished short listing the entries in this round. It's taking a long time but you only have yourselves to blame by submitting such excellent vids.  New award site affiliate, Always Holding On Awards run by Mariana.

19.09.09  Just to tell you about a new competition over at Vision in Video Awards - If you have a vid you think will fit then do submit.  Strawberrybisque is waiting for your vids!

4.8.09 Well events just conspired to delay the making of awards,  so apologies for the very long wait this round. They are now posted  - Congratulations to all , a very competitive round and a broad range of fandoms.  Round 14 is now open for submissions (read the rules please!) - I will be back in a couple of days to post submissions received so far and update the layout,  but then I will be away until 22nd August. This round will close on the 23rd August so it is best if you can get your entries in as soon as possible.  Please note from the last round -  Asharan that your vid download file appeared to be corrupted as it stopped midplay. Feel free to re-enter in the new round once you've fixed it as it was not judged.

 13.7.09 We've started making awards.  Won't be too long now.

4.7.09  We are in the 2nd phase of judging for this round.  Awards should be up before the end of the month, I'll update again once we start making the banners. Please hold submissions.

9.06.09 Currently downloading the vids for judging . All normal round awards from Rd1 through 6 have been taken offline. 2.06.09 Ok -Round Thirteen is closed with 39 Nominations, please hold further submissions. The last two nominations  are pending tags from Mariana and Lena. I will start download the entries and check for link back codes. We have lots of new vidders, some welcome familiar faces and a great diversity of TV and Movie fandoms -  Looks to be a great round. Thank you everyone for submitting.  Once we start judging we'll have a better idea of when we expect to post awards.

17.05.09 - Thank you everyone. The first eighteen nominations are up. The round will close on the 1st June. Any questions please leave a tag.

16.05.09 - Round Thirteen is now open. The big change is that  the AvA's are now a Multi fandom Vidding contest. We will accept any fan vid with source from TV, Movie & Animation fandoms  (there is a note regarding one particular genre in the rules so please read) There have also been changes to the categories that may be awarded and check for the new  code phrase. New Codes for linking are also available and I will take code requests.  Please read the rules before submitting.

13.5.09 Finally they are posted! The Judged Awards for the Best of The Best (the return) Round are now up.  Over 60 awards in total. Extremely difficult to select winners and places. If you didn't get anything please don't feel bad  - you still were all winners. The next round will open shortly and there will be lots of changes, please wait until I post the new layout, rules and guidelines. Also please note that all award banners  from Round 1 through to 6 will be removed from the site in the next week, there will still be a list of the results, but no banners. Take the opportunity to save them, it's all part of a cleanup.

5.3.09 - Ok so I have set up the polls ready for the 'Viewers Choice' voting. These will open on 6.3.09, that gives you a  day or so to post codes and generally encourage people to come here and vote for their favourites.  The polls will close on 6th April 09.  We will also be judging as the polls are underway.

27.02.09 Nominations for the Best of the Best round (the return) are finally posted - there's  a link above and also in the side bar to the left with FAQ's.   Briefly - there will be judged awards for each category and soon polls will open for 'Viewers Choice ' voting.  There are plenty of codes for you to use on your own sites, last time I made personalized vidder ones - if anyone wants one with their own name tag me please.  Also as before, there are some surprise wildcard selections - if you don't want your vid included or want to change your link please tag or contact me.  I will accept streaming links for this round.  Polls will open soon so grab your code and pass the word around. 

 7.02.09 Winners for Round 12 are posted!!  The overall standard was exceptionally high this round.  With such intense competition many vids that possibly would have gained category awards in previous rounds were pipped to the winning post. Please do not be discouraged, we enjoy all the submissions we see here and hope that everyone continues to participate. The Best of the Best Round (The return) starts now and in a day or so I will be uploading information on the entries, rules and polls. Hold all submissions please -  major changes to the competition at the Art of Vidding Awards will be announced after the Best of The Best. Finally a new affiliate - check out the site!

. 2.12.08 Ok,  final submissions are posted and Round 12 is closed. Judging will probably start after Christmas. Please don't submit now as the next round will be the Best of The Best with viewers polls and judged awards.   In the meantime we hit our 2nd anniversary earlier this month at 'The Art Of Vidding Awards' so to celebrate we (Shona and me ) decided to look back at the years submissions and pick our favourites from all those.  Congratulations here are the Anniversary Awards !

15.12.08 Well that wasn't nice. My system has been rebuilt and we're back to normal. I've added three more submissions thanks and we're at 27 for this last round.  The surprises have also been delayed somewhat but I think there may be something appearing in a couple of days or so. Just a reminder that the round closes on the 20th (Saturday).

4.12.08 More submissions posted -we're up to 24 already.  Thank you everyone - this round is looking great.  Can you believe it? we've being going for 2 years at AvA.  I may be back in a couple of days with some Anniversary surprises.

 1.12.08 New layout is up for Round 12.  I have Shona's reviews for Round 11 but I won't post these until I have done mine. This round will close on 20th December but expect awards to be up sometime in January. I do have around 12 submissions so far to update, I may get these  added tonight if all goes well.  As this is the last normal round before the next BOTB you may want to take this chance to submit.

5.09.08 - Oh look an update and a new layout. We've kicked off with 8 nominations. Thanks to everyone who has submitted so far, come on let's have some more!

 2.09.08 I hope you guys are all waiting for an announcement that the new round is open, otherwise I think this may be a very quick one to judge.  Please send in your submissions, the round will shut on 26.9.08 irrespective of number of entries. I will update the layout with the first batch of nominations.  New code word so please check the rules.

1.07.08 Winners  are announced! The standard of entries was excellent, making judging  difficult. As a result there are ties with some awards. Of the 33 nominations, 21 Vids were given an award of some kind.   Competition in the Character, Relationship and Editing  categories was particularly intense and, for the first time ever, we have a two Best Video Awards.  Both vids, I felt were  very different but equally deserving. Reviews will be along soon (quicker than the last ones hopefully). And onto some news  about Art of Vidding Awards.  We now begin our summer hiatus until the 1st September '08.  Please don't submit anything, it will be deleted.  Once we reopen in September there will be two more rounds before we have another Best of The Best Round. Hopefully in the same/similar  format as before with judging and choice polls.  After that I will have decided what changes I want to make the format of the competition,  mainly focusing on eligible fandoms and the frequency of the rounds.   I would like to continue in some form or other, but will be giving it serious consideration over the next few months.  Any comments on this or the awards please use the tag or contact email - I'm interested in what you all think.

8.05.08 - Normal Round 10 is open for submissions.  I won't put up nominations until I have a new layout  & reviews done. This will take a couple of days but you can still send in your entries in the meantime.  Don't forget to read the rules.

1.05.08 Special Theme Round Is now closed!  It will probably take a couple of weeks for judging and award making.  Normal Round 10 will open on Tuesday 6th May and I will be back just after that  with a new layout, the extremely late reviews for Rd 9  and any other updates. 1.04.08  Phew - Awards posted!  Last minute deliberations but they are done.  Congratulations to the winners and well done to everyone who took part this round, making it extremely difficult for the judges.  Reviews will appear some time very soon.  We have a few nominations for the Special Theme Round to post too but  would love to get some more.  The next normal round will not open until we have closed the nominations for the Special Theme - a new layout will hopefully appear and we may update the fandom list too.

25.3.08 We're kind of in the final phase of judging right now, it's not right to rush it with so many excellent nominations in this round.  So whilst you're all out there twiddling your thumbs I thought I would start another Special Theme Round, we've not had one of those since 'forever' ?. 4.1.08 - Winners are announced!  So we get to the end of another wonderful round at the Art of Vidding Awards.  We've been going now for a year and the quality of nominations has improved with every round. Thank you to all   who have regularly submitted your work throughout the year - I really appreciate your support of this Award site, and welcome to all the new vidders in these last few rounds. A tightly matched contest this time so there are a few joint awards, shared amongst sixteen vids.  I will not be opening the next round until 1st February as I have some vid bunnies of my own that need taking round the back to be shot, and I may get the chance to do some other fandom things too . Of course, if I get twitchy and decide to open earlier, you will all be the first to hear about it. Please don't send in submissions, they'll be deleted. Reviews will be up in a couple of days (or sooner).

1.1.08 Happy New Year everyone! Well, you made judging tough for me again, some superb, entertaining vids in this round so there will be joint placings  in some categories. I am now working on awards so allow a few days as I'd like them to be real 'purty'.

30.12.07 Well I think we can safely say the end of the year was overly optimistic.... The first phase of judging is done though, so please don't despair. Real life was a lot busier than I expected so it has pushed things out a little.  First week of January I hope for the awards. I'll keep you all informed. 27.08.07 The Polls close on Friday 31st 12.00pm GMT - So far over 136 different voters have sent in their choices - All I can say is some of the results are incredibly close.  Shona & I are on our 2nd phase of judging,  as a rule we think alike and I put that down to us both having great minds. At the moment I still see us being able to get the results in and awards posted in the first week of September.  Then there will be amendments to the rules & fandoms and we start all over again.  I will keep you informed.

30.06.07 Later that same day.....  Round Six Winners announced! Seriously one of the tightest rounds yet here at AvA's - So much that in the Editing & Hunter Categories there were five contenders at the very last stage of judging.  Some wonderful vids this round, many fandoms well represented and it meant that a wapping  58 awards of various kinds have been given to 27 entries. We have joint awards in six categories and extra judge's choices. Reviews follow shortly.   The next round will be 'best of the best' - taking winners from all previous six rounds and some deserving wild card entries. There will be some judging and also we hope a couple of polls. More on that in a couple of days when we update everything.  After this it's all change and there will be a new format to judging and categories will be altered. So no submission to normal rounds please until further notice.

22.06.07 Not only gnashing of teeth but rending of garments, and all kinds of angst in the judging process this month.  We are kind of into the second phase of our judging process and I think it's fair to say this is the tightest and toughest round yet . The standard of all the entries is such that there will no doubt be ties and extra awards this month. More codes  added to include the new fandoms and they can now be found on a new page. Theme nominations updated

There has already been  gnashing of teeth at having to choose from the awesome selection this month, and lots of new vidders too which always makes for an interesting round.  It's gonna be a real 'doosie'. Hopefully the awards will be posted at the end of the month.  The Movie nominations are still coming in too and I am very excited about watching those - the special round will close on 30th June.   Please do not send in any more normal round nominations. It's the 'Best of' next and we will let you know soon about the finalists, polls, banners and real prizes! .

Of the 40 entries 18 won an award of some kind, no entries will be carried over.   Round Six will be the last round before our 'Best of the Best' and also  the final round where you choose your categories, we will let you know about the changes in judging and the new categories in which awards will be given after the Best of The Best round.  I hope to publish reviews after June 3rd.  Two new fandoms added BSG - (Season One only at the moment) and Alias.  ROUND SIX IS NOW OPEN - Please submit but note there will be no updates until after 3rd June as I am away.  19.05.07 Just an update with judging progress, stage one is done - we've done a fair bit of category shuffling  this round. We will probably finalise places this weekend and the plan is to have awards posted before Thursday 24th May. 31.03.07 Winners of Round Four are announced!  A high calibre of fanvids with an exceptional Best Video Winner. We had a chance to meet up at a Firefly convention to do our final stage of judging, (thanks to Shona & her laptop) into the small hours of the morning - so much more fun than doing the Macarena we can assure you.  We also had the chance to discuss the competition, it's range of fandoms, rules and frequency and have come up with some changes. The main rounds will now have no limit on the number of entries but will run over a period of eight weeks. A cut off date will be announced early on so that everyone is aware of when submissions must be made.  The categories you select will be seen as 'suggestions' and we will be moving vids around much more, it's possible that next round will see more changes to the categories. We have decided for the time being to continue with selected fandoms only, however as soon as S1 of 'Heroes' has broadcast in full  in the UK we shall be adding that fandom.    The judges were Andrea & Shona , Andrea made the awards with Shona pitching in to help with the animations - thanks again Sho .   One more theme nomination has also been added.  Please read the rules before submitting on the 1st April.

05.03.07 Special Theme Round Three is open!!!   Any TV fandom or Movie where there are Wizards, Witches and magic. So that means LoTR trilogy, Harry Potter, Hex, Charmed, Bewitched etc etc you get the idea. If you are not sure if your vid fits then tag or send us an email.  Also Normal Round Four has only 3 spaces left. Strictly first come first served. Please note the next  update will be on  Friday.

1.03.07 Goodness!  We are up to 14 entries already - thanks to everyone.  Fiareynne & Eleni - I have sent you emails about your entries. The wonderful banner was made by Destiny  who will hopefully make the awards this round too, now that's got to be an incentive to submit, as her graphic art is definitely worth having. And look,  we have added NEW FANDOMS to the regular round list.  Now you can also submit, Tru Calling, Dark Angel and Due South Vids.   We have a theme subject decided and I will announce that in a few days.

28.02.07 Round Three Winners are posted, along with Best Video, RU & Judge's Choice reviews. Judges were Shona & Andrea this round. We found that many of the categories were extremely tough this month, however some had sufficient entries to warrant a Winner only. There are no entries to carry forward to next round so we start with a clean slate.  The Best Character category has joint winners & of the 37 nominations, 20 picked up an award of some kind, which we feel reflects the overall high quality of the vids this time.    There is no 'Other Fandom' award as we had enough to give Zeppo, Hunter, Neptune, Tardis  & Browncoat Awards.. Round Four is now open - can I just suggest you look at your categories choices carefully - the Music Use and Drama are always very popular making competition intense in those categories. If you are not sure of the 'fit' in that category just add a note in the comments and we will take a look for you. anyway enough of that, check for a new code phrase & submit away!!

26.02.07 Very final stages of judging are underway.  Some heavily subscribed categories are intensely competitive, and we have shuffled a couple of entries in the category selections. It's probably been the longest judging session to date. Award making is in progress and we should have winners up on 28th Feb. New normal round will commence 1st March.  I haven't decided on the theme round as yet.

14.02.07   Happy Valentine's Day - Special Theme Round 2 Awards are now up. Fantastic vids everyone, it was hard to choose and I hope you like the awards. The next Special Theme Round will not open until Mid March - I will announce the theme nearer the time.  Normal Round Three is now closed - thanks for those last two nominations.

13.02.07 We have completed judging on the Special Theme Round 2 and awards will be up tomorrow. Two more normal nominations added - just 2 to go so I can close the round. I don't know if it's the time of year but we are light on the humour this month - so if you have a humorous vid and where thinking of entering, now is a good time.

10.02.07 Updated again leaving room for just 4 more in this round.  I think it's going to be another awesome selection. I'm mulling over ideas for the next Special Theme which will probably open mid March. We are at the final stages of judging for the 'Love' Round.

08.02.07 Just six more spots left in Normal Round Three. I'd love to be able to close the round soon and start watching all the vids, so if you were thinking of sending something in please go right ahead. I've been 'ooohing, aaahing' and generally snuffling into tissues whilst watching all the smoochie Love vids - it is going to be difficult to short list from such great entries.

04.02.07  Ooh look new layout - hope you like it, this one is by Andrea. Nominations for Round 3 now stands at 25! Rachael (aka Destiny)  is a talented vidder and fan artist and I would recommend that you all check out her site No Stray Frames and just drool over all the beautiful work.

31.01.07 Later that same day......    Winners for  Round Two are posted! A huge thank you to Shona for making them this time.   Another tough round again, but dominated in some categories by two exceptional vids . There were insufficient entries for Episodic, so two are carried forward.  The new round opens tomorrow, so if you didn't win this round please try again. Please read the notes on the winners page about categories and we will keep you updated on what we decide. Reviews will posted tomorrow.  Special Theme Round Nominations are also updated.

31.01.07 We are now at 15 Special Theme Nominations. Nikita - let me know about your entry please. Sorry I haven't updated for a couple of days but I am having system issues.  All things being equal we should still get the Normal Round 2 Awards up by tonight.  Reviews for Best Vid & Judge's Choices may be tomorrow. 

25.01.07 More Theme Round nominations updated - Now at 10 entries - nice mix of Fandoms so far - let's have some more, remember this theme closes 7th February.

21.01.07 More Special Theme Round nominations posted.  Thanks to everyone who has sent these in, we want more of course and remember there is no fandom restriction.  We are at stage 2 of judging in the normal round, so it looks as if the Rd 2 awards will be on course for the end of the month.  Nikki's entry has moved to Special Theme Round 2 and MJade's will now be in Round 3.  I have added a couple of notes about Special Theme Rounds to the Rules - they are in bold.

18.1.07 The first batch of Theme nominations are up - Thanks to Katie, Aruna7 and Kelly, and I forgot to add here about theme nominations  Please do not submit any vids that are already included in the current Normal Round nominations.  If your fanvid was in the previous normal round then it is ok to re-enter, but not in the current round that is pending judging and awards.  I will brush up the rules section so that's a little clearer.

 16.1.07 Special Theme Round 1 - Winners Announced!  We had some fantastic vids entered in our first Theme round and it was immense fun to watch them all. Mara Sho has come up with the next Theme, in time we hope for Valentine's Day, - 'Love, Romance & Lust' . This will be open to ANY FANDOM - TV or Movie - looking for fan vids dealing with relationships between two people, Male/Female or Male/Male or Female/Female. Just two people so that kind of rules out love triangles or orgies and the like. As there is no fandom restriction I hope to receive lots of submissions  so the closing date will be 7th February.   If you are not sure that your vid fits then just contact us or tag.    As the for Main Round Two - judging is underway, awards scheduled for the end of January.

14.1.07 Special Theme Round One - Comic Book Heroes is now closed. Thanks to everyone who submitted. The awards for these will be posted soon. I will be able to give you more idea of when and the Theme of the next special round tomorrow.

12.1.07 - Thanks to Amy, MartoufMarty and ElishaMarie for the last submissions to Round Two. This round is now CLOSED, please refrain from submitting until Round Three opens on 1st February. Also thanks to Dragonchic for her submission into the theme round. This Special Round will close tonight. A new Affiliate to the Art of Vidding Awards ' Black Key Sugar'd Locket Awards' - check out the code below. And if you are disappointed that you missed this round and can't wait head over to 'Sunnydale Stories Awards' where Bones and Slayerverse vids are accepted.

9.1.07 One more normal round and  another Special Theme nomination added -  Thanks to Mjade and Charmax for their submissions.  That just leaves two more spots for the normal round. As for the Special Theme Round there is no limit, just whatever comes in before end of Friday Midnight GMT.

31.12.06 Winners are announced!  I know you have all seen this said before but, considering the number of entries, there were so many videos of such a high calibre that we used all our time reviewing ,watching and judging the entries right up to the last and awards were only finished late last night. Thank you to everyone who submitted - please don't feel disheartened if you have not won an award this Round - it was extremely difficult to choose and I hope you all decide to enter more vids in the Special Theme Contest and Round 2 which opens on 1st January.  

28.12.06  Another two theme nominations added, thanks Kamyar & Mysterya - please keep them coming in!!  We have now finished the judging and I have begun to make the awards.  Still expecting to have these up for the end of the Month so check back then.

19.12.06  - Two more Theme nominations added to the Special Round, can't believe there are no Batman or Spiderman vids as yet, but we live in hope.   Judging is  nearly complete  - my goodness, you don't make it easy for us. We are delighted by the very high standard of entries in this round, awesome viewing but big decision headaches.  We should still be on course for posting Awards by the end of the year.
