End of Days Angel Convention - Amy Acker J August Richards

Alexis Denisof (Wesley), J August Richards (Gunn), Amy Acker (Fred), Vincent Kartheiser (Connor), Andy Hallett (Lorne), Mark Lutz (Groosalug), Julie Benz (Darla), Juliet Landau (Drusilla) ,Stephanie Romanov (Lilah), Keith Szarabajkas (Holtz), Brody Hutzler (Landok), Tamara Gorski (Rebecca), Dayne Johnson (Head Makeup Artist), Nicole Bilderback, Clare Kramer (Glory -BtVS) , Sparky (Prop meister extraordinaire) and Joss Whedon by special video message.

It started with this convention - End of Days 2003, fairly late to the convention scene I attended this great event and met most of the ANGEL cast. I hadn't thought of painting portraits for signing at that stage and I still kick myself for not doing it for this convention. I haven't had the chance to see J August Richards since. This was where I caught the convention bug - much credit to Starfury Conventions.

With such a comprehensive guest list and over 2700 attendees this was a huge event. All you needed to complete the line up were David Boreanaz and Charisma Carpenter ! Due to the size of the event queuing was a big part of the weekend but all the Q & A session were informative, entertaining and in some case downright hilarious. As he could not be there in person Joss sent a crazy video message showing us around the offices of Mutant Enemy, letting us see the white board where all the plot lines were worked out in advance (some of the crazy comments written on it turned out to be HUGE spoilers). Dayne's make up demonstration - 'vamping' a young man called Lee, was fascinating and 'Sparky' brought over lots of axes, weapons and that famous Mo Ping (possibly still with Angel soul inside?) . The parties were wild with impromptu karaoke by Andy, who also lost his shoes, Vincent's crazy dance and the tattoo auction to raise money for 'Make a Wish Foundation' (a surprise for everyone). Amy & J charmed us with their smiles; Alexis spoke of his then fiancée, Alyson Hannigan and gave us a brief demonstration of Wesley's dance techniques; Juliet chilled and thrilled with a snippet of Drusilla dialogue with Stephanie & Julie making us laugh and think how come evil girls look so good? Mark , Brody and Andy Hallett ( known as the 'Queen of the Con') overcame the language barrier and we taught them all kinds of new words. Keith, Tamara, Vincent, Clare & Nicole all gave interesting talks with Keith actually coming down into the audience to interrogate us a la 'Holtz'. As an exclusive, there was an 'in full make-up' Lorne photo shoot and the closing ceremony ended with a chorus of 'Mandy' from all the guests. A most amazing 3 days.
