Description

This radio is very compact (17 x 13.5 x 13 cm), which makes the sound it produces even more impressive. Revo are a new name to hit the shelves here at Richer Sounds, and the company itself is relatively new too; starting life in 2004 in Lanark, Scotland, where they still proudly design all of their equipment today. Their first product brought to market was an in-car DAB tuner, designed to plug into pre-existing car stereos and giving DAB alongside the standard AM/FM. The company hasn’t strayed too far from its roots, with today’s review subject, the SuperSignal, a DAB/DAB+/FM bedside table-style radio. Sound quality is one of the most important factors when it comes to choosing a radio. While there are lots of good budget radios on the market, their sound quality can be disappointing.

The Revival iStream 3 is a compact radio (11 x 16 x 25.5 cm) with a beautiful retro design and great sound quality. If you want more features and don’t mind compromising on sound quality you should consider the Roberts Stream93i, which is a DAB radio with WiFi for streaming the 20,000+ radio stations available online. The Stream93i is cheaper than the SuperSignal and has decent sound quality even if it’s not up to the same standard as the SuperSignal.

This radio has a single speaker, so it only offers mono output, but the sound quality is still great. The bass might seem a bit heavy at first, but you can adjust it to your liking with the EQ settings. The sound can be adjusted to your taste using the 6-position equaliser with separate bass and treble options.

Look for brands that have a reputation for good sound quality. The best brands for sound quality at the moment are arguably Revo and Ruark, though Pure and Roberts make some great-sounding radios too. Revo SuperSignal DAB/FM/Bluetooth radio system fuses mid-century retro styling with 21st-century connectivity and sound quality. The walnut casing is simply gorgeous, and gives the DAB radio a real premium feel. But what really makes the SuperSignal stand out is the speaker grille. You don’t tend to see these very much anymore, as most audio equipment- you’d be more likely to find one on an old amplifier. But that just gives the Revo SuperSignal an extra splash of vintage sparkle- it’s sure to attract attention when you have guests over. Bought a SuperSignal radio direct from REVO in December 2019. It was sold with a 2-year warranty. Now, some 20-months old it has developed a glitch whereby the sound cuts out for periods of 5 mins to a couple of hours. Quite arbitrary when it happens, and it's not a DAB signal issue - it happens across FM, DAB and Bluetooth. Roberts are one of the most recognised radio manufacturers, with a history of making quality products.

Once received our Revo experts diagnose your Audio Hi-Fi Equipment, we will proceed and fix your Audio Hi-Fi Equipment LED display once the repair cost is confirmed. The Revo SuperSignal is the perfect entry point for anyone interested in a new DAB radio. Not only does it provide stunning sound quality, but it also boasts a seriously sophisticated design. In this review, we’ll be exploring the SuperSignal in more detail. Read on, and discover how we got on with it in practise, as well as the key features of this model. Continued listening showed the above to remain true across the board, with the SuperSignal impressing everyone who listened. Of course, we aren’t saying to box up and sell the living room hi-fi – far from it. But in a category often known for placing an emphasis on keeping things simple and (reasonably) cheap, the Revo gave a much-welcomed display of what can be achieved when manufacturers go that little bit further in the pursuit of great sound. It’d probably even make getting up in the morning a delight. Well, maybe that’s pushing it… All of this technology would be a terrible let-down, however, were the REVO SuperSignal to be a let down when it came to sound quality. The SuperSignal utilises unique BMR (Balanced Mode Radiator) speaker drivers which utilise flat diaphragm transducer technology for a high-performance, compact drive unit which offers a room-filling sound.

Kompakter Zeitgenosse

The design of this product is inspired by antique radiograms. It has four legs, like a table, and is not just a radio, but also a piece of furniture. It features a Bluetooth receiver, allowing you to play music from your phone or laptop through the R1’s high-quality speaker. A hand-crafted wooden cabinet has been selected for its superb acoustic properties, no other material provides the deep foundations of great audio performance like wood. The SuperSignal’s design blends classic 1960s elements with a minimalistic modern finish giving it a timeless look. One thing to watch out for is the delicate plastic screen cover which can be scratched easily. This is an Audiophile blog, and as such we’re normally more focussed upon full-scale Hi-Fi systems which often deserve a room to themselves. We have no shame in admitting our love, however, for the traditional “transistor radio”, the unsung hero of music delivery. Sadly, in recent decades, the luxury, high-quality portable radio has become something of a rare breed. Reborn with 21st Century Technology
