On the other hand, it removes some of the complexity of building a strategy around whats available to you. In worker placement games you are often trying to figure out which actions you should take without knowing what will be available on your following turns. However, being able to do this relies on you being able to ship the required goods to the tiles you want to upgrade. The player's home tiles and the transport tiles: farrier, stable and wainwright each enable the transport of resources and the upgrade of tiles. Across four rounds players will build up a colonial town, populating it with immigrants who arrive on boats at the end of each round.

I categorize Keyflower as a medium to heavy game and Key to the City: London as a medium weight game. In the winter, no new workers arrive, and the players select the village tiles for auction from those they received at the beginning of the game. In summer, autumn and winter the start player for that season is the player who won the bidding for the highest numbered start player tile (depicting the start player worker) in the previous season. Each player starts the game with a "home" tile and an initial team of eight workers, each of which is colored red, yellow or blue.Last up you have transportation tiles that let you move goods between tiles in your village and upgrade buildings. The rule book does a good job of setting out how to play the game, even if it’s unnecessarily text-heavy. These tiles in the centre are bid on turn by turn by each player until everyone passes consecutively. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item.

Along with the village tiles there will also be a number of boats (equal to the number of players), each with some workers and tools that will be arriving at the end of the season. If a tile is being used for the first time in a season then a player usually places one* worker onto the tile. The game is played with meeples of different colours and you can use them to either auction hexagons or work them to produce. The village tiles (except the summer boat and winter tiles) may be upgraded by flipping the tiles over to their reverse side.In spring, summer and autumn, more workers will arrive on board the Keyflower and her sister boats, with some of these workers possessing skills in the working of the key resources of iron, stone and wood. Workers come in 4 colors: red, yellow, blue and green, where first 3 colors are mixed in a bag and green workers can only be acquired otherwise. All players collect workers that they played and which form part of an unsuccessful bid and puts these back behind their screen. A player may use more workers than are required, for example if they are reallocating workers from a losing bid which cannot be split or to prevent other players from using a tile.
